Honestly, I’m not a very happy person. At least, I don’t feel like I am. Despite many of the things in my life that are happy, I tend to be a pessimist and focus on the things that are making me unhappy.
Case in point: When arriving home from work, I bust through the front door like a tornado and unload the day’s baggage on my husband, who silently sits there and listens to me complain.
Is my job horrible? No. But, I focus on the things that, for lack of a better word, “irk” me instead of being thankful that I have a job that is 110% better than my last teaching job.
Yes, there are minor things that annoy me throughout the day, but I would like to stop focusing on them and instead, direct my energy towards the good in my life.
So instead of navigating my energy towards the dust on floor of our new house and getting frustrated because I have to swiffer it again, I can say, “Hey! We have an entire house that we own! How cool is that?!”
